Louis S.
Rogers
September 4, 1983 – November 12, 2025
It is with great sadness to announce the loss of one of our own, Louis Drummer Boy Rogers.
Louis Samual Rogers 42 of Louisville, Ky passed away unexpectedly at his home Wednesday November 12, 2025.
Louis was well known in the Louisville area for his love of Funeral Service and playing music. Louis got his start in funeral service at Hathaway and Clark Funeral Home in 2013, working with a long-time friend, Reggie Sims. After 9 years of employment, Louis made a change in 2022 and started working for B&G Mortuary Service of Charlestown, Indiana. During his time of employment, Louis was assigned to the Falls City Mortuary Location in Louisville. At this time, he was working with Reggie as a Transportation Tech. In June of 2022 Louis started a journey and working towards a life long dream of becoming a Licensed Funeral Director in the state of Kentucky. He began his Funeral Directors Apprenticeship at Falls City Mortuary with his childhood friend Langston Gaither. During this time Louis was allowed to start working with Rodgers Awkard and Lyons Funeral Home. Clarence allowed Louis to help conduct funerals, get people ready for funerals and be apart of his team in order for Louis to meet his apprenticeship qualifications. After 3 years of apprenticeship, Louis finally saw the fruits of his labor and in August of 2025 Louis did it, he passed his Kentucky State Board and was officially licensed as a Kentucky Funeral Director. Besides raising his son Caleb "Fat Daddy" Rogers, getting his license was one of his most prized possession.
Louis was loved by many. On any given Sunday he would play drums between 3 to 4 area churches. Not only did Louis play, at times you might catch him and his group singing.
At the young age of 17 Louis lost his world with the passing of his mother, Brenda Joyce Rogers. This loss and void were never filled but Louis took what life threw at him and moved forward and made the best of what he was dealt with. God knew what Louis needed and his Godmother Jackaline Lassiter and Godsister Shanee Lassiter came into his life and continued to be by his side for over 20 years. No matter what was going on he always had a smile on his face. If you know you know, the month of September is for Virgos and that is when Brenda's Boys got to celebrate their birthday. Louis was so proud of the fact that he got to celebrate his birthday on the exact same day as his big brother Curtis "BO" Rogers on September 4th.
One of Louis most cherished moments came a few weeks ago whenever he had the honor of Baptizing his son Caleb. He was so proud of this moment he shared it with everyone. At the time of Louis's passing he was a Funeral Director for Rodgers Awkard and Lyons Funeral Home, and the facilities manager for Falls City Mortuary.
Louis was preceded in death by his beloved Mother Brenda J. Rogers. He is survived by his son Caleb, Brother, Curtis "BO" Rogers (Dachelle Philpot), Godmother, Jackaline Lassiter, Godsister Shanee Lassiter, Companion Lavada Basey, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Friends, his Family at B&G Mortuary Service, Rodgers Awkard Lyons Funeral Home and all of the funeral personal in the Louisville Area. A special Thank you to his close friends Cynthia Baker and Chris Washburn from GC Williams Funeral Home, Stacey Tompkins of Garr Funeral Home, Long Time Childhood friend Langston Gaither, and Funeral Service associates Leola McCollom, Sharmain Chiles, Louise Pennix, Ebony Kae and Ashley Ernst. God Bless you Louis and may you now rest in peace.
Services for Louis will be Saturday November 22, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M and Funeral Service will start at 12:00 Noon at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, 1620 Anderson Street Louisville, Ky. Internment will follow in Green Meadows Cemetery. The family has asked that everyone wear red and black to honor Louis and fill the city with his favorite colors. He was a true Cardinals fan through and through.
Please read one of Louis's favorite verses from the Bible
Psalm 150: Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.
