Eric Ballerstedt Obituary

Eric Charles Ballerstedt, 61, passed away peacefully October 11, 2024 at Baptist Health Louisville.  Born March 26, 1963 in Louisville, Ky to William Morris Ballerstedt Jr and Mary Patricia (Tremblay).

Eric is loved dearly and was known as a kind and gentle man who made friends easily. He would often reach out and be there for many of his closest friends from years past. Eric’s early years were spent growing up in a house with four brothers in St. Matthews, Louisville, Kentucky. He spoke often of fond memories of his first job as a hard-working paperboy with his brothers and enjoying these walks with his family's beloved dog Barron, a collie. Eric had a passion for sports of all kinds. He was part of many St. Matthews youth baseball leagues and was involved in year around sports at his alma mater Louisville Male High School class of 1981. His high school team sports included football, basketball, track and baseball along with rugby at UK. Eric continued his sports career as a semi pro football player during the early 2000s along with coaching youth softball and North Oldham High School softball. He had a special bond of baseball with his father, this lead him to follow his passion for coaching with emphasis on the importance of team building.

Eric went on to pursue his education at the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville with a BA in Marketing & Communications. Eric worked for many years with The Courier Journal and iHeartMedia as an Account Executive.

Eric married his high school sweetheart Diana in 1986, they were married 33 years. Eric was an extremely proud father of Hannah Ballerstedt. He loved Hannah dearly and would often speak highly of her talents in music and of her hard-working ability to make it on her own being a global citizen.

Eric had an immense love for dogs, especially collies. We can rest assured he is now joined with his mother and father along with all his beloved collies. Peace and love be with you Eric.

Eric is survived by his daughter Hannah; former wife and Hannah’s mother Diana; four brothers Bill (Susan), John (Linda), Bruce (Joann), Andy (Anila); former sister in-law Lynne Ballerstedt; uncles Hank and Peter, nieces and nephews Ward (Christine), Laura (Beau), Thomas, Carol, Julia, Sarah, Rob (Janelle), Caroline, Maya, Nina, and Eva; great nieces and nephews Jack, Cara, Bryce, Raelyn, Kylie, Lila and Baker.
