Paul David Carter, 47, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed peacefully from this life on June 3, 2026, held close by his wife and children, surrounded by the love that defined his every day. Born November 28, 1978, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Paul was, by every account of those who knew him, one of the kindest, funniest, most generous, and most compassionate men they had ever met. He loved his family fiercely, he loved people well, and he loved God.

Paul met Michelle, the love of his life, in 2005. They married in December 2007 and spent nearly twenty years building a life together marked by adventure, deep commitment, and an unshakeable partnership. They moved from Albuquerque to Denver, Colorado, before settling in Louisville in 2020, where they put down roots and began dreaming of what came next. Paul was Michelle's best friend, her other half, her rational anchor in every storm. He had a rare and steady ability to look at the world clearly and make sense of things for her. He showed her, and everyone who loved him, what real sacrificial love looks like. She is who she is because of how well he loved her.

Paul is survived by his wife, Michelle; his sons, Armando Guadiana, David Carter, and William Carter, three boys he loved wholly and without reservation. Armando, whom Paul helped raise from the age of three, was his son in every way that mattered. Michelle and Paul were fiercely proud of all three of their boys, who carry their father's legacy forward and want nothing more than to make him proud. Paul is also survived by his mother, Monalynn Carter, and his brother, Nicholas Carter. He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Carter.

Paul was an entrepreneur at heart and a champion of small business. He spent decades in the hosting business with nearly five years as Chief Operating Officer of A2 Hosting before stepping into a new chapter as co-founder of BuiltFast, alongside his friends and co-founders Justin and Josh. He was passionate about what he did, about the potential of small businesses and the people behind them. Paul had an extraordinary ability to understand people's strengths and help them see possibilities in themselves they hadn't yet seen. He also had a gift for sitting across from someone with a tangled problem (a struggling business, a thorny contract, a decision they couldn't see their way through) and making it feel solvable. He gave that gift freely, whether the person across the table was a fellow founder, an employee, a member of his church, or his friend who just needed someone to explain the technology side of things. He didn't just build companies, he built people. Those who worked alongside him knew they were in the presence of someone who genuinely believed in them.

Paul worked from home for nearly ten years, and he treasured every moment that gave him with his family. He filled his spare time with the people he loved most. He had long dreamed of building a woodshop in their Kentucky home — fine furniture was a passion waiting for its season, a dream he and Michelle had looked forward to together. He enjoyed a good glass of Balvenie Double Wood 17-year-old Scotch and unhurried time with family and friends. Paul believed marriage was a covenant, and he honored it with everything he had — building the kind of home he and Michelle had always dreamed of, one that would change their family tree forever.

Paul's faith was sure. A devoted Christian and beloved member of Springdale Community Church, he lived what he believed — in his marriage, in his fatherhood, and in the way he treated every person who crossed his path. He saw the possibilities in people the way he believed God sees them: with patience, with hope, and with unfailing love. Those who grieve him take comfort in knowing exactly where he is, and in the certain hope of seeing him again.

He was loved deeply, and he loved well.
