Obituary

Glenn Edward Johnson went to be with the Lord on February 7, 2024 at the VA Medical Hospital. Glenn leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Mary Ann Johnson (Baker). Their children, eldest son Chad Johnson (Athena Johnson), eldest daughter, Jessica Birkla (Ty Harper),and youngest daughter, Kelly Johnson. He is now reunited with their youngest son, Ace Johnson (1983-2007), in heaven.

Five grandchildren Cody Dobson, Raylee Duncan, Dylan Johnson, Bailey Duncan, and Avery Birkla. Four great grandchildren Matthew, Joel, and Dean Dobson and Colson Ace Legawiec.

Five nieces, two nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

Glenn was born in Portmouth, OH in 1941 to Ace and Stella Johnson (Ison) with two siblings, Brad Johnson and Phylis Hardin (Johnson). He later moved to Louisville, KY where him and Mary Ann married and raised their family.

He served in the United States Air Force and retired from Parker Hannifan. They were members for many years of the former Beth Haven Baptist Church and more recent, Open Door Baptist Church.

Glenn was a devoted husband, father, and Poppie. He worked hard to provide for his family. He showed his love especially with food. If you visited their home, you would be offered sandwiches or candy. He was a big, strong man whose voiced boomed and had a one of a kind strut in his step. He had a full head of black hair earning him the nickname Elvis in his youth. His presence was large, kind, and tell it how it is. He loved to lift weights and go second hand shopping to find treasures for himself and others. He even received customer of the year at the Salvation Army one year. He loved God and his family. Family was everything to him.

He is so loved and so missed. But he knew where he was going when he died because of his salvation. What a glorious reunion in heaven it must be.

The arrangements for his Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.
