Frederick John "John" Abanes
Frederick John "John" Abanes, 62, of Fisherville, Kentucky, passed away on September 3, 2026, one day before his 63rd birthday. Born September 4, 1963, in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, John lived a life filled with love, friendship, adventure, and family.
John met Julia Adams at a Fourth of July party at Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. What began on July 3, 1998, became a lifelong love story. John and Julia were married on July 3, 2005, and shared more than 28 years together.
Although John did not have biological children of his own, he was a devoted stepfather to Nicole Pyle and Alec Herpinch and a loving grandfather to Isabella Herpich and Brennan Pyle. He was a wonderful husband, stepfather, and grandfather who cherished his family deeply.
John began his working life as a maitre d' at a private club in Louisville before joining Ford Motor Company, where he dedicated 30 years of his career. He retired from Ford in 2020.
John had a zest for life and enjoyed many things, including the beach, fishing, volleyball, working out, martial arts, traveling, and movies--especially superhero movies. He loved spending time with his many friends and created lasting memories wherever life took him.
John faced very serious health challenges during the last tow years of his life. He fought valiantly through those difficult years, and his journey ultimately came to an end on September 3, 2026.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Julia Adams; stepdaughter, Nicole Pyle; stepson, Alec Herpinch; grandchildren, Isabella Herpich, and Prennan Pyle; sister Lynn Abanes LaGrene; brother, Marcelino Robles; niece, Rachel Gubbe; nephew Aaron LeQuire, and many cherished friends and loved ones.
John will be remembered for his love of life, his adventurous spirit, his loyalty to his friends, and the love he gave to his family. He was a husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, and he touched the lives of many people along the way.
The circumstances of John's final days cannot define the life he lived or the person he was. His life was filled with people who loved him, memories that will never be forgotten, and moments that will remain in the hearts of those who knew him. John was deeply loved, and he will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
