In Loving Memory of Cathy Ann Cress

Cathy Ann Cress, 73, passed away peacefully at her home in Fredericksburg, IN, on June 30th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on March 23,1953 in Louisville KY Cathy spent her life surrounded by the people and animals she loved most. In 2002 she and her husband relocated to Fredericksburg to fulfill her lifelong dream of owning horses and to live on a farm. Her home became her sanctuary not only to her family but also countless animals. A devoted animal lover Cathy never turned away a stray and found joy in caring for every creature that ever crossed her path.

Cathy was preceded in death by her beloved eldest daughter, Mellisa Wright in 2014.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of 50 year William (Bill) Cress, who's love and devotion never wavered. After Cathy suffered a massive stroke in 2023 Bill became her full time caregiver. Through his extraordinary compassion and selfless care,he made it possible for Cathy to remain in the comfort of her home until her last breath- a gift of love for which her family will be forever grateful.

She is also survived by her loving daughter Shawna Spellman & son-in-law Robert Spellman. Living as neighbors on their family farm, they were blessed to share in Cathys daily life and helped create the loving, nurturing environment that surrounded her in her final years.

Cathy's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Joseph Tanner Wright (Mina) and Brooke Carter (Dwayne) who brought her great pride and happiness.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends & and the many beloved animals that still roam the farm she so lovingly cared for. Her kindness, gentle spirit and boundless compassion for both people and animals will live on in the hearts of all that knew her.

" Perhaps the greatest gift an animal has to offer is a permanent reminder of who we really are"

James Herriott

May Cathy rest in peace, reunited with those that have gone before her and surrounded once again by the animals she loved so much.
